the ball rolling for so many other publications now common on

Beano'. Containing travel articles, drug advice, readers letters & much
more. The magazine itself is in nice condition. The cover has begun to
detach from thespine, but otherwise this copy survives with nothing

OZ No. 23 - Yet Each Man Kills The Thing He Loves (1969 UK
forty eight page magazine that raised the bar in its
groundbreaking and intelligent articles, but fell foul of the
Obscenity laws as a result of its uncompromising adult
approach to the hot topics of the time, cartoons, letters and
more. This copy is in nice condition with just a couple of minor
tears to the cover pages and remains a fascinating look back
at the often naive times that with the 'on demand' Internet
culture of today, we will never see the like of again)

OZ No. 28 - School Kids Issue (What can be said to do justice to this
issue ? Edited by a selection of twenty Secondary School pupils
[including an eighteen year old Charles Shaar Murray & Deyan
Sudjic], this issue & its highly sexualised RupertBear parody cartoon
led up to the famous obscenity trial & even the release of a single
written by John Lennon to help in their defence. The cartoon in
question was created by fifteen year old schoolboy Vivian Berger by
pasting the head of Rupert onto the lead character of an X-rated
satirical cartoon by Robert Crumb. The forty-eight page magazine is in
superb condition with no rips or tears & minimal light creasing, packed
with interesting articles, controversial articles & adverts for both music
releases & adult sex toys. A unique insight into the magazine that set
the ball rolling for so many other publications now common on
newstands. Groundbreaking & intelligent, at the time deemed
'underground', it tackled issues that at the time were taboo but are
now discussed quite freely. A peculiarity of this issue was that the
very people that edited it were, at the time, not legally allowed to read
it!)

OZ No. 29 - Female Energy (1970 UK forty eight page magazine with
cover 'borrowed' from the design of a certain famous washing powder
of the period, featuring articles pertaining to 'Girl Power' long before
the term was a twinkle in any Svengali's eye. The articles include 'New
Ways With Play Clothes', 'The Kiss Of The Lash', one on Cocaine, 'The
Politics Of Female Sexuality', 'Conversations with Anais Nin' & more.
The issue naturally includes the usual letters, adverts & cartoons that
we have all come to know and love. This copy is in wonderful condition
with just a little light wear & a light centre crease to show for being
over forty years old, with no staining rips or tears - Wonderful!)

OZ No. 31 - 'Yippie' Oz (1970 UK forty eight page magazine that
raised the bar in its groundbreaking and intelligent articles, but fell
foul of the Obscenity laws as a result of its uncompromising adult
approach to the hot topics of the time. This issue has articles on
politics & personalities, including Mick Jagger declaring himself an
'anarchist' on UK TV whilst at the same time staying in the exclusive
Georges Cinq hotel ... hmmm. Also a useful / outrageous /
irresponsible [deleteaccording to personal viewpoint] article on the
various types of 'Magic Mushroom' that one may find in the woodlands
of Albion, The Female Eunuch by Germaine Greer, a Yippie Quiz,
cartoons, letters and more. This copy is in wonderful condition with
just a couple of minor tears to the cover pages and remains a

OZ No. 32 - Granny's Oz (This, the first issue of 1971, was subtitled
the 'Emergency Issue' as its thirty six 12" pages were mostly devoted
to fundraising for the obscenity trial caused by the furore surrounding
issue twenty eight, but also included an interview with Muddy Waters
contributed by Charles Shaar Murray, an article on 'pure' foodstuffs,
American deserters in Sweden & the usual letters, adult cartoons &
general whimsy. The cover on this issue has a tear on the back, but no
paper loss, with the front having just one small nick at the edge. Apart
from this, all contents are in fantastic condition with each page still in
the same condition as the day it was printed. A marvellous forty year
old history book of sorts in superb condition, a fitting companion to
issue twenty eight!)

OZ No. 35 - Special Pig Issue (1971 UK forty eight page magazine,
dealing more with matters of the British Constabulary & the Obscenity
bust, rather than those of a porcine nature. As is usual with this cult
magazine, which set the ball rolling for so many other publications now
common on newstands. Groundbreaking & intelligent, at the time
deemed 'underground', it tackled issues that at the time were taboo
but are now discussed quite freely. Articles in this issue include a chart
onthe effects of mind altering consumables, Eastern & Encounter
Group Therapy, the usual adult cartoons, letters & more. A charming &
unique feature of this issue is that the front cover has been rubber
stamped 20p to correct the printed price of 40p, obviously a casualty
of the Decimalisation that took place that year where someone
incorrectly converted the prior four shilling cover price and accidentally
doubled the price! This copy is in superb condition and, as ever, can
only be described as an essential read!)
