OZ No. 28 - School Kids Issue (What can be said to do justice to this issue ? Edited by a selection of twenty Secondary School pupils [including an eighteen year old Charles Shaar Murray & Deyan Sudjic], this issue & its highly sexualised RupertBear parody cartoon led up to the famous obscenity trial & even the release of a single written by John Lennon to help in their defence. The cartoon in question was created by fifteen year old schoolboy Vivian Berger by pasting the head of Rupert onto the lead character of an X-rated satirical cartoon by Robert Crumb. The forty-eight page magazine is in superb condition with no rips or tears & minimal light creasing, packed with interesting articles, controversial articles & adverts for both music releases & adult sex toys. A unique insight into the magazine that set the ball rolling for so many other publications now common on newstands. Groundbreaking & intelligent, at the time deemed 'underground', it tackled issues that at the time were taboo but are now discussed quite freely. A peculiarity of this issue was that the very people that edited it were, at the time, not legally allowed to read it!)
