THE MONKS Black Monk Time (2009 German limited edition 12-track
LP pressed on Heavyweight Vinyl - The Monks were 4
American GIs stationed in Germany in the early 60s; after starting out
as a typical beat band, they developed a unique, extremely sinister
and downright threatening style in late 1965, much of which predated
the same sentiments that would be attributed to punk 10 years later,
featuring searing feedback, pounding drums, barked non-sensical
lyrics, manic organ, fuzz bass and electric banjo! This, their only
album, was recorded in November 1965 and released the following
March in Germany only, and was mostly met with bewilderment and
outright hostility; 40 years later it's regarded as an out-and-out
