|PINK FLOYD Animals (Rare 1977 Japanese 5-track LP,

card lyric inner, an illustrated fold-out Japanese insert of
lyrics & biography information, rare title logo sticker and

right corner the sleeve has only minimal wear whilst the vinyl

5. Pigs On The Wing - Part 2
|DAVID BOWIE & THE LOWER THIRD Can't Help Thinking About Me
(Incredibly rare 1966 UK 7" vinyl single with intact four prong centre,
also including And I Say To Myself, Pye company die cut paper sleeve.
One of the true 'Holy [Holy] Grail' items inBowie's back catalogue,
this was the first single to be released under the 'David Bowie' name &
the first that was issued in America, even though as 'David Jones' he
had previously released two other singles 7N.17020) |
Tracklisting: This was Bowie's third UK single and it eventually became the first Bowie song to appear on LP when it was included on the 'Hitmakers Volume 4' label compilation LP later that year.
Moving slowly away from the wannabe Mod singer of the previous two singles, this is the first time that the David Bowie persona and song styling began to show.
Let's get the sleeve out of the way with first. This is the classic Pye/Pye Jazz/Pye International/Piccadilly sleeve from the mid sixties. There is no way on the planet to be able to declare this 'original' without having nursed it personally for the last fifty years, but it is in lovely condition & is the correct type for the period. It is also not a modern reproduction, so the signs are good that it probably is the same one it was bought in.
The disc itself remains in superb condition. Upon really close inspection it is obvious that it has been played, but not very often and with a good deck, as the vinyl appears to have just been broken in.
Getting closer to the playing surface, there are a couple of extremely light scuffs that were probably caused by the rough paper of the sleeve. Certainly nothing significant and the playing surfaces of both sides appear to be completely free of any surface hairlines.
This indicates that regardless of its origin, it came from a good home and was well looked after. This also tends to support the belief that the Pye sleeve is of the same age as the disc.
The labels themselves are clean and bright, free from any writing or historic sticker blemishes. There are a few faint spindle marks around the centre hole, more clues that it has been played but also clues that it hasn't been subjected to a stacking autochanger with consequent crushing stylus weights.
We last had one of these over fifteen years ago, so they don't come around that often, even when you're looking for them. To find one as particularly fine as this one is a real treat & something that we are proud to be able to offer today.
If you are looking for a copy of this incredibly rare single in as good as it gets condition, then this is the one for you. Don't hang around !
