VIVIAN STANSHALL / biG GRunt biG GRunt (2016 UK limited edition 4-track 12" vinyl single, picture sleeve. For a brief period after the demise of the Bonzo's Vivian Stanshall [with the help of Roger Ruskin Spear, Dennis Cowan, Ian Wallace and Bubs White] briefly played as biG GRunt - they never released anything under this name but did record a session for Radio One's John Peel from which this is taken - it's a brain frying mix of Beefheartisms, contorted blues and the inimitable Viv' throughout, great version of '11 Mustachioed Daughters' too. VIVIAN STANSHALL Sir Henry At Rawlinson End (Original 1978 UK 15-track LP from the one and only Viv, on the small Pink Mad Hatter label with A1/B1 matrices plus 'distributed by Phonogram' perimeter text, housed in an embossed sleeve complete with fold-out lyric/poster. The sleeve has a little corner creasing and some light edgewear; apart from a little spindle wear, the vinyl shows few signs of play - an excellent copy CAS1139) more...

VIVIAN STANSHALL Men Opening Umbrellas Ahead (Scarce original 1974 UK 10-track vinyl LP, the solo debut by the legendary 'ginger geezer', which sold so poorly it was swiftly deleted by Warner Bros soon after release, remaining unavailable in any commercial form for over thirty-five years. This is perhaps because it was Stanshall's answer to Beefheart, a madcap but inspired affair with moments of genius & flourishes of Afrobeat, with guests Gaspar Lawal, Reebop Kwaku Baah, an unidentified West Indian taxi driver[!] and soul singers Barry St. John, Doris Troy & Madeline Bell. In an ideal world it would have charted! The embossed picture sleeve shows just light shelfwear with some minor discolouration in places but comes complete with the lyric inner and the vinyl remains near 'as new' with few signs of play - A gem that surfaces so rarely on vinyl!
