LED ZEPPELIN Led Zeppelin (Rare 1969 US first issue 9-track LP on a plum & mustard Atlantic label with first issue '1841 Broadway' address on the back pasted picture sleeve [later issues had the 'Rockafeller Plaza' address]. This peculiar label has had several explanations over the years from leftover Atco blanks to a Record Club mistake, but either way has to be the most difficult of the US first issues to find as they appeared in extremely small quantities and so this can be seen ascomparable to the UK turquoise sleeve. Just to add to the fun, this is a near pristine archive copy. The sleeve shows minimal edge wear with just a tiny half inch hairline split at the bottom opening, all text legible & the blimp image looking stunning. The vinyl appears near 'as new' SD8216)

Pressed by Festival way back in 1969, this 9-track stereo LP variant has 'SampleRecord' stickered silver on green Atlantic 'fan' labels, but the fun doesn't stop there, oh no. The sleeve is one of a kind, unique to Australia, with 'Stereo' in a box underneath the band name on the front laminated flipback picture sleeve. Yes, flipback. The back of the sleeve is devoted to a history of the band written by June Harris & a biography of the individual members. The usual happy faces artwork is completely missing & replaced by this page of unique text. If you're not convinced yet, but still want more, let me tell you that the sleeve remains white, unscuffed, unstained, near as new. The vinyl ? Yep. Also near 'as new' with maybe the odd fly footprint here and there but not much else. A staggering copy of this EXTREMELY rare Oz pressing! SAL-933,232)

The vinyl plays astonishly well and remains in fantastic condition with barely any traces around the spindle hole. The all-important sleeve still holds up well, with the pinched spine text clearly legible. Otherwise, there is just a little laminate lift at the spine & a few light creases, showing only light wear, so nothing too severe to detract from its beauty. The sleeve has a unique printing error where the band members' names have been mixed up under this picture with only Jimmy Page captioned correctly! The sleeve shows a little yellowing and mild surface scuffs to the cover with a little foxing to the innerspread but is overall in nice shape with no rips or tears and legible spine print. The vinyl shows a mark to Side 1 across tracks 1 & 2 but this remains inaudible and with just a little foxing evident to the labels they are nevertheless free of any spindle marks with the vinyl retaining a beautiful lustre suggesting very seldom play! Still a very nice copy of this classic debut over 40 years on!! SMT-1067)
