HENDRIX Band Of Gypsys (1970 first UK issue 6-track stereo vinyl LP on the black & silver Track label, housed in the withdrawn matt 'puppet' sleeve. The earliest copies of Band of Gypsys depicted puppets of Hendrix, Brian Jones, Bob Dylan & English DJ John Peel, found here. Reportedly Peel complained & the cover was withdrawn & replaced with a live photo of Hendrix! See 'More Info' for condition details...)

Condition

The labels are bright & clear with no writing or tears. The 'Band Of Gipsies' spelling is clear & there are a few minor spindle marks by the centre hole. The matrices in the run-outs are stamped A1/B1.

The vinyl is clean & grades Very Good with some light paper hairlines not affecting play. Playbackbut reveals no major deterioration in sound quality (just the odd bit of a background noise in the quiet places) & thanks to the quality of British vinyl from this period Hendrix still rings out loud & clear.

The cover grades Good at best with some crease marks, ageing & scuffing including a little paper loss around a few edges. There is some faint foxing & ring wear with a small name penned discreetly to a back corner. Far from mint, this particular cover is increasingly collectable & remains a worthy collection filler.
