THE WHO 1965 Uxbridge Blues & Folk Festival (Vintage 1965
original 10-page souvenir programme for the Uxbridge Blues
& Folk Festival on the site of The Uxbridge Show, Park Road,
Middlesex, that took place on Saturday 19th June, 1965. The
afternoon programme of events was compered by star Radio
Luxembourg DJ and Record Mirror columnist Tony Hall, and
opened at 2.30pm with the Ray Martin Group. John Mayall's
Bluesbreakers followed, with Zoot Money's Big Roll Band,
Soloman Burke (backed by Zoot Money), The Who
performing at 3.45pm, Spencer Davis Group, Marianne
Faithfull, The Birds, David Whittling and Long John Baldry
rounding out the line-up. The Evening Festival Dance featured
Cliff Bennet and the Rebel Rousers, Long John Baldry and the
Hoochie Coochie Men, plus Ray Martin Group again. The
programme features a photograph and brief bio of each act,
alongside adverts for local businesses and clubs. The Who are
pictured above an advert for Marshall amplifiers, and are
mentioned twice more in advertisements for The New Look
Fender Club (performing on Friday 30th July), and The Blue
Moon Club (performing Sunday 20th June - the day after this
festival!). This programme was obtained from its original
owner who attended the festival, and it remains in astonishing
condition. It also includes an original insert from the
programme designers and printers G.LAY, with a SUE RECORDS
advert positioned below. Unrepeatable!)
