As emblematic of its time as of its sorcerer-like creator, 1967's Are You Experienced? unleashed Jimi Hendrix onto a world in the midst of such cultural and musical shake-ups that it really didn't seem as 'far out' as it actually was.
It wasn't just Hendrix's virtuosic skill as a pure player that was so impressive, it was even more the range and scope of sheer sound that he coaxed, cajoled and ripped out of his instrument. His songs filled ears with indelible sonic images and songs like 'Foxy Lady' and '3rd Stone From The Sun' pointed the way toward a new brand of rock-charged soul music.

Condition
Housed in the original Ernest J Day manufactured front laminated picture sleeve, the cover appears Excellent Minus with no writing or tears. There is some light spine scuffing which has rendered a little of the text illegible & minor ageing to the laminate; the colours are still vivid with minimal discolouring to the back panel. A very nice example.

The labels are black with silver print & large Track Record logo at the top. There is some spindle marks visible around the centre although the labels remain bright & clean with no writing or tears.

The matrix numbers end A-1/B-1 indicating that this copy was one of the first pressed. They are as follows

Side One 612001 A1
Side Two 612001 B1

The vinyl has been professionally cleaned on a Matrix machine. On first listen, we were startled at just how different this original mono mix sounds. Visually, the vinyl reveals a handful of minor scuffs but these are not deep enough to affect play, & thanks to the quality of sixties vinyl pressings from this period, the mono playback does not stray, & these marks remain purely cosmetic. All be told, a very healthy VG+/EX- copy.
