SUGABABES Angels With Dirty Faces (National Album Day 2024 UK/EU limited edition 11-track LP pressed on Yellow Vinyl, a landmark album which brought avant-garde electronic music to the masses and features the era-defining hit single ‘Freak Like Me’. Picture sleeve with hype sticker, factory sealed)

Tracklisting: Redrawing pop music’s borders in the early 21st century, London trio Sugababes occupy an important place in the history of British music. Formed in London in 1998, the group seamlessly combined mainstream pop with cutting-edge R&B, soul and dance music – and they added to this intoxicating mix on 2002’s Angels With Dirty Faces, an album which brought avant-garde electronic music to the masses. This landmark second album from Sugababes includes the era-defining ‘Freak Like Me’, which, helmed by underground producer Richard X, rode a sample of Tubeway Army’s ‘Are “Friends” Electric?’ all the way to the top of the UK charts in the spring of 2002. Led by the guiding hand of the Xenomania production team, ‘Round Round’ repeated the trick, paving the way for Angels With Dirty Faces to clean up that summer, going triple-platinum and scoring Sugababes the 2003 BRIT Award for Best British Dance Act. Never before released on vinyl, for this year’s National Albums Day, ‘Angels With Dirty Faces’ comes pressed on limited edition yellow vinyl. Side A 1. Freak Like Me 2. Blue 3. Round Round 4. JIMI HENDRIX Axis: Bold As Love (1969 Japanese only second issue 13-track stereo LP manufactured by Nippon Grammophon, unique picture sleeve that was only used for the Japanese release, with Japanese sleeve notes & lyrics on the reverse, whichcontinue on the supplied insert. The sleeve is a complete departure from the familiar psychedelic imagery of the western releases & is often known as the 'cola' sleeve because of the empty bottle of a famous brand being visible. This copy rema
#Top 500 Greatest Albums Of All Timeins in excellent condition with just a little foxing on the back of the sleeve & the insert, with the vinyl remaining in wonderful coondition & showing little sign of play SMP-1398)

Tracklisting: 01. EXP 02. Up From The Skies 03. Spanish Castle Magic 04. Wait Until Tomorrow 05. Ain't No Telling 06. Little Wing 07. If Six Was Nine 08. You've Got Me Floating 09. Castles Made Of Sand 10. She's So Fine 11. One Rainy Wish 12. Little Miss Lover 13. Bold As Love It's a little known fact that this wonderful album was released twice in Japan during the 1960s. The first was in August 1968 and it carried the catalogue number SLPM-1398. This was quickly repressed and reissued in 1969 with the catalogue number prefix changed to SMP-1398. This copy has the second issue sleeve, but retails the SLPM-1398 vinyl, meaning that this was likely to have been one of the first copies of this second issue, perhaps at the tail end of 1968. This copy would make a worthy addition to any collection. The unique sleeve artwork depicts a seated Jimi wearing a cool pair of rainbow striped trousers. The only psychedelic touches are the flame shaped 'speech bubbles' containing the album titles & a mirror image of the same. The keen eyed amongst you will spot the unintentional product placement in the bottom right corner. The heavy duty pasted picture sleeve is of solid construction. The front remains in glorious condition with almost no sign of wear or fading. There is the smallest amount of scuffing at the corners, but this is pretty insignificant & the spine remains as clear as it did in 1968. The back cover is a very simple white background covered in black type. On this can be seen evidence of foxing, especially where the back slick has been pasted into place. This is just something that happens when you're dealing with forty year old porous paper and this design of Japanese sleeve. Saying that, it is free from any writing & clearly readable. Overall a lovely example of this unique sleeve. As is usual for a 60s Japanese only pressing, the lyrics are printed on the back cover. However, since they would not all fit in the space provided they end with the first line of 'Ain't No Telling' and then continue on a separate single sided full size insert. This continuation lyric insert is in excellent condition, no tears, straight edges, clear print, with just a little yellowing around the paper edges. The vinyl is in near 'as new' condition. Visually it appears clean, bright and free of any significant surface blemishes. Surface noise is kept to a minimum & it can easily be graded in the Excellent bracket & remains one of the nicest copies of this vinyl disc that we have ever seen. The red Polydor labels show very few spindle marks around the centre. There is no obi with this record. To put some perspective on that, we have only ever seen the obi pictured in reference books, never for real. We suspect that a mint original [if it exists] complete with insert and obi would fetch at least three times the price of this copy. In summary, this example is not perfect, but it is about as good a copy as you are ever likely to find. If you don't already have one in your collection, then it's worth buying for the unique sleeve art alone. Trivia - the actual trousers that Jimi is wearing in the photo on this record cover were auctioned in London on July 10th 2008. They fetched an incredible £20,000 ! Please note that the Trousers are NOT included :-)
