 | RAINBOW Monsters Of Rock (Official 1980 UK 24 page
programme for the Monsters Of Rock festival on 16th August.
Promoter Paul Loasby planned a day-long summer festival
dedicated specifically to bands from within the heavy rock
and metal genre. As he hadbeen promoting the recent Rainbow
UK tour, he asked them to headline the event. The venue
chosen for the event was the Donington Park motor racing
circuit at Castle Donington in Leicestershire, England where it
was held annually for seventeenyears. This was the very first
festival with a line-up consisted of a mix of British and
international hard rockers and heavy metal bands including
Judas Priest, Scorpions, April Wine, Saxon, Riot, Touch and
Running Wild, with 35,000 people attending. The programme
features pages dedicated to each act including some great
black & white and colour photographs. This has been stored
away for many years, we don't even think this ended up at the
festival, but what we do know, this example remains in an
outstanding condition and still has the original merchadise
insert attached inside) |
