Mighty Baby - 1st

MIGHTY BABY Mighty Baby (Monster British Psych Screamer 1969 UK 8-track stereo vinyl LP, the first press of this debut by the London-based group that evolved from mod gods The Action, released on the mysterious Head label. After changing theirname, growing their hair & [allegedly] taking lots of drugs, this masterpiece from MIGHTY BABY emerged, mixing progressive & psychedelic influences with Eastern instrumentation to magical effect. Housed in a stunning & suitably trippy gatefold sleeve, see 'more info' for full details... HDLS6002)

Condition :-

The matt sleeve shows some creases and print rubbing along the black border, however the sleeve art is largely clean and allowed to shine; the spine has a few creases with the text still legible. The original price in penciled to the reverse.

The matrices in the dead wax read:
HOLS 6002A-2 *T
HOLS 6002B-2 *T

The vinyl is housed in the original die-cut poly-lined inner with 'UK Patent No.' print bottom right. The 'Head' labels are yellow with black print & we must say, we have never clapped eyes on this particular label imprint before. A joy to see, there are just a few minor spindle marks either side of the centre hole to indicate past play & no blemishes to the print.

The vinyl has been professionally cleaned & grades VG+/EX. There are two visible marks on Side one which, on playing, result in short passages of background noise in Egyptian Tomb and A Friend You Know But Never See, otherwise the vinyl appears barely played. This one is so tricky to find...... Buy on sight we say!
