Tracklisting & More Information

Tracklisting:

The Village Green Preservation Society
Do You Remember Walter
Picture Book
Johnny Thunder
Monica
People Take Pictures Of Each Other
Village Green
Mr. Songbird
Wicked Annabella
Starstruck
Phenomenal Cat
Days

The first thing that you will notice is that the tracks that end the UK issue of the album have been moved to the end of side one. You will also notice that there are three less tracks, even though this tracklisting also does not correspond with that of the twelve track export only album.
Last Of The Steam-Powered Trains, Big Sky, Sitting By The Riverside, Animal Farm & All Of My Friends Were There are omitted.
In their place are inserted Mr. Songbird & the single Days, which closes this version of the album.

Condition:

So often found clinging to life by a thread, this copy luckily has nearly everything going for it.

Sleeve:

This is unique. It is fully laminated with a group and member biography on the back.
This shows just light wear & a little age yellowing at the edges. There is some scuffing at the opening but nothing too extreme. Close inspection will reveal a few laminate creases, particularly at the right hand corners, but there is no writing, any splits or tears. The most astonishing thing of all is that the sleeve is still basically white, which is seldom the case.

The Vinyl:

Pressed by Pye on vinyl so solid that you could build houses out of it, this copy is quite a pleasant surprise.
Upon playtesting, there was found to be little distortion or burring, even in loud passages & background noise was minmal. The sonic fidelity is still crisp and bright from beginning to end with background noise only really evident between tracks and even this is minor.
Whilst obviously played, this copy has been well looked after and has been played on good equipment. No chipped styli or three ton tone arms have been inflicted upon this disc in its lifetime.
Visually you can see a few light hairlines on each side, but having played both sides through, I can assure you that most have no effect on play whatsoever and are inaudible. There is a click at the end of Wicked Annabella that continues through the between song silence but stops almost immediately Starstruck kicks off. There is another click to be heard during Phenomenal Cat although that too is brief.

A slightly flawed gem, certainly, but a gem none the less.

If you want a copy of one of the rarest Kinks LPs in the world, but do not want to pick up the usual mangled mess or shell out a small mortgage for a mythical mint copy, then this one may be just the one that you are looking for.

A very acceptable copy of this incredibly rare album at a seriously advantageous price.
