It is quite fair to say that this copy has been 'well loved' over the last forty five years & looks like it. It went through the Mods, the Blues Revival, the Parties, the Glam era, Punk ... And it looks the part. Visually it exhibits a multitude of surface marks & several scratches. The sleeve is bent and stained. This little fella has been around & is proud of it, much like the band themselves!

The good news is that the sleeve is complete, untorn & has no writing on it. More good news comes from the brick outhouse vinyl & long pressing times that they used in 1964. The disc plays through without jumping & clicks are kept to a minimum. It actually plays a nice VG- and, although some surface noise is evident, there is very little evidence of the worn out 'burring' so often found at moments of maximum stylus frenzy. It's actually rather nice. This item has obviously been used and enjoyed but the superior pressing from this era holds its sound quality far better than latter era pressings, overall the sound is far better than looking at the actual vinyl might suggest. The music comes through clearly & with the punch that only those ancient quality pressings can give.

Labels - The colour of the labels are deep red with bright siver print. The Decca logo is 'unboxed' with 'Recording First Published...' lettering. Several marks are evident around the spindle area on either side of the label - This disc was made to be played!

Vinyl - The 'Tell Me' track is the legendary 2 minutes 52 seconds version.
The tracklisting on the reverse of the sleeve & on the label lists Side 1 Track 4 as 'I Need You Baby' rather than 'Mona'.

Matrices read:
XARL-6271-2A on side 1 and XARL-6272-1A on side 2.

Sleeve - The front laminated flipback picture sleeve features the dark moody image that has become iconic. The colours are still unfaded &, although creased a bit at the corners, the sleeve retains its feel & the focus of the picture is preserved. The unlaminated back has yellowed with age, as would be expected.

There are no rips, tears writing or any other major defects.

A reasonably decent copy of this rare & hard to find collectors item at a bargain price !
