This was a curious release that only ever made its way into the Benelux countries. Essentially a re-issue of the band's first album, this was issued with a unique front laminated flipback psychedelic cover known amongst collectors as the Butterfly sleeve, although the unlaminated back still contained a slightly re-arranged copy of the original rear art.
Issued in very small quantities, this has now become a much sought after but seldom seen release.
For years, it was one of the most wanted Dutch Rolling Stones albums. This record with the unique Butterfly cover was only available in 1968 for a couple of months before Decca Netherlands decided to change the cover again (the common second issue has two more recent photographs on the front, these photos were later used for the “No Stone Unturned” album) and the Butterfly cover was deleted forever, making this an extremely rare release.
The music on this issue is not exclusive, it being just an 'electronically reprocessed' stereo image of the 1964 mono debut.

The all important unique sleeve on this copy is front laminated with top & bottom flips. This has survived in very nice condition indeed with just a tiny amount of edge scuffing, a clearly readable spine & just a little light shelfwear to the unlaminated back.
We would grade this EX-/EX as there is far less wear than would normally be expected on a forty five years old European sleeve.

The vinyl has obviously been played and several surface scuffs are evident, so visually you would have to grade this VG-/VG. Upon playtesting, however, the effect of this was found to be minimal, with the sonics of the recording suffering no obvious distortion & just a level of light crackle in quieter moments & between tracks. Occasionally the odd click can be heard, but the disc plays through cleanly & without fault. Sonically, it certainly is nearer the VG/VG+ bracket.

All in all, a very acceptable, if not mint, copy of this rare sleeve issue at an advantageous price!
