ROLLING STONES The Rolling Stones (1965 UK third variant 12-track MONO vinyl LP on the red label with unboxed Decca and ffrr logos, non-flipback front laminated picture sleeve LK4661)
See 'More Info' for further details on this forty year oldgem!

Tracklisting: The group's second British album actually appeared after their second U.S. LP, mostly owing to the fact that the British rock & roll audience wasn't focused on the long-player as a medium (singles and EPs were the driving force of the business in England then). It uses the same David Bailey cover shot that had graced the U.S issued '12 X 5' album two months earlier, but only four songs (Under The Boardwalk, Suzie Q, Grown Up Wrong and Time Is On My Side) overlap on the two albums. Rather, Rolling Stones No. 2 offered seven songs that weren't to make it out in America until four months later on 'The Rolling Stones Now!' It also includes one of the group's best blues covers, their version of Muddy Waters' I Can't Be Satisfied, which wasn't released in America until 1973 and features some killer slide playing by Brian Jones. The U.K. LP was originally released in mono only. The labels are red with unboxed or open Decca logo and ffrr 'ear' logo. There are just a handful of spindle marks around the centre hole to indicate some play. This is the third label variant with deep groove, BIEM & NCB logos to the right & all publisher credits on the left. The matrix numbers are machine stamped into the 'dead wax' areas. They are as follows: Side One XARL-6619-1A Side Two XARL-6620-1A The vinyl is in superb condition with no more than a couple of light surface scuffs on either side. Despite now being nearly fifty years old this classic album has retained its shine - no mean feat for an item of this age. Overall, the vinyl would be graded EX-/EX. The sleeve too is in excellent condition. The laminate on the front is beautiful & clean with no creasing, bubbling or blemishes. All edges and corners are sharp, the spine print clearly legible. The rear of the non-flipback picture sleeve is usually prone to excessive discolouration, however this one shows just the lightest shelfwear. Contrary to the claims of eBay gloryhunters, the versions of the sleeve existed in both censored and uncensored forms right through to the Boxed logo label versions. This is the uncensored version with the controversial 'Blind Man' text. Decca employees freely admit that there were multiple typesetters of the labels and they tended to keep the sleeves in a pile, so the combination of sleeve & label is a far from exact science, with many different variations turning up. For example, this has a 'third' type label but -1 matrices ! Mint and near mint Stones originals are becoming increasingly difficult to find, more so than Beatles first issues. Their value has rocketed in recent years and shows no sign of slowing. This would make a great investment or worthy addition to any serious collection! 01. Everybody Needs Somebody To Love 02. Down Home Girl 03. You Can't Catch Me 04. Time Is On My Side 05. What A Shame 06. Grown Up Wrong 07. Down The Road Apiece 08. Under The Boardwalk 09. I Can't Be Satisfied 10. Pain In My Heart 11. Off The Hook 12. Suzie-Q
