2-LP set pressed on 180gram BlueTranslucent Vinyl, originally released in 1961. Recorded
in 1961 at The Blackhawk, San Francisco, in its review TheNew
York Times indicated that the set was "the gold standard for
straight-ahead, postwar jazz rhythm". Housedin a gatefold picture
sleeve replicating the original release, with Japanese insert and 'Jazz
Analog Legendary Collection' obi-strip still in the resealable bag with
hype sticker attached. Please note, this remains in a brand-new
condition, we have removed the vinyl from the sleeve to protect it
from damage, mint and unplayed!)
Tracklisting: Miles Davis’s two-night stand at The Blackhawk in San Francisco marked a watershed in jazz history, a seminal event transforming the American musical landscape. Davis had never been recorded live in a club with his combo and the performances over the course of two sets a night on April 21 and 22, 1961 more than justify the legend. The New York Times, in its review of the Columbia Records release of the complete Blackhawk shows, called the music “the gold standard for straight-ahead, postwar jazz rhythm.”
