A FEW OF THE MOST RECENT ITEMS WE WANT...

JOHN COLTRANE QUARTET Crescent (Rare 1965 UK 5-track mono LP on the red & black 'Nipper' stamp label, Features Trane's classic quartet line-up - McCoy Tyner on piano, bassist Jimmy Garrison and drummer Elvin Jones - recorded April the 27th and1st of June '64, and acting as a fine prelude to the classic A Love Supreme recorded later that year. Front laminated flipback picture sleeve with sleevenotes by Nat Hentoff. The sleeve shows a little scuffing/creasing to edges with light ringwear/wear to flipbacks whilst the vinyl shows a few light scuffs and cosmetic wear, not affecting play. The first copy we've ever seen! CLP1799)

Tracklisting: A1 Crescent 8:40 A2 Wise One 9:01 A3 Bessie's Blues 3:30 B1 Lonnie's Lament 11:42 B2 The Drum Thing 7:20
CAN Soundtracks (1980 German Spoon label issue of the 1970 7-track stereo vinyl LP, glossy colour picture sleeve. The sleeve shows light wear, mainly to the edges and corners and the vinyl is Excellent SPOON005)

Tracklisting: 1. Deadlock 2. Tango Whiskyman 3. Deadlock 4. Don't Turn The Light On, Leave Me Alone 5. Soul Desert 6. Mother Sky 7. She Brings The Rain
ART BLAKEY & THE JAZZ MESSENGERS Moanin' (Circa 1959 US issue of the 6-track deep groove mono LP, just titled 'Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers' on release but now more widely known as 'Moanin'. This is the second variant on the West63rd - NYC address label with 'Inc' & 'R' lettering, raised edges & RVG stampers & 'ear' markings in the run-outs. Also stars Lee Morgan, Benny Golson, Bobby Timmons & Jymie Merritt, in what must surely be one of the top tenalbums to own on Blue Note, with heavy duty pasted laminate sleeve & period company inner. See 'more info' for condition... BLP4003)

Tracklisting: 1. Moanin' 2. Are You Real 3. Along Came Betty 4. The Drum Thunder (Miniature) Suite 5. Blues March 6. Come Rain Or Come Shine Label Design: - With 'Inc' & 'R' lettering after 'Blue Note'. Deep groove with '47 West 63rd - NYC' address. This second variant was pressed just after "Blue Note Records" became an incorporated company & a registered trademark. The same fine sound as the 47W63rds pressings without the 'INC' and 'R' on the labels is present. We have play tested this record & the sound is immense, no doubt coming from an early batch of the second run with stampers originating from the same Matrix/ mothers as the original 47W63rds previously mentioned. A combination of Van Gelder's sound engineering & Plastylite pressing [with or without the 'R'] is well & truly the 'golden age' for highest quality, Blue Note pressings. Condition : - Obtained from a one previous owner collection, the heavyweight pasted laminate sleeve is in beautiful shape. Clean, with rich, vivid colours & all text clearly legible, there is just the faintest bit of scuffing or chipping to the paper at the corner edges to show for its vintage. Otherwise this is a lovely example, which even retains a nice, period UK tax code sticker & also the Mecolico royalty sticker for author's rights, which were affixed during export from the US, both on the back panel, complete with period company catalogue inner. The colours of the labels are bright and vivid with no tears to the print. There is a 'deep groove' visible both sides & a raised edge. From a collector's standpoint, a flat edge is more desirable but in terms of sound quality there is little between a flat & raised edge pressing of these original monos [we have found & play tested both in our time]. There are some very light spindle marks to indicate play but nothing excessive. The vinyl has been professionally cleaned and has come up looking sparkling. Obviously being such a great album, there are signs of past enjoyment with the odd light paper scuff or hairline. Upon play testing both sides, we can confirm the quality of the pressing stands out above all else. Any surface noise is mostly kept to a minimum throughout. Wonderful stuff, firmly meeting a 'very good' condition grading & often playing higher, we have to say there really is no other way to own this - you've got to get a first pressing mono to hear the difference...
ROLLING STONES Rock 'N' Rolling Stones (Rare 1982 Japanese only limited edition issue of the 1972 12-track LP pressed Orange Vinyl, featuring a collection of recordings including five Chuck Berry covers aswellas Berry-related songs such as Route 66 and Down the Road Apiece, housed in a glossy picture sleeve with fold-out Japanese/ lyric insert, a postcard for a Bonus 7" of As Tears Go By [Italian Version] and wide Union flag obi-strip L20P1031)
