JOHN LEE HOOKER Travelin' (1969 UK first issue stereo
12-track vinyl LP on the texured orange & black Joy label,
housed in a front laminated picture sleeve. Classic Hooker
album that saw him update his sound with a full band set-up,
includes Canal Street Blues, Whiskey And Wimmen, Goin' To
California - deep blues one and all, not afraid to detail life in
all its ragged glory! The picture sleeve [and what a picture
sleeve it is!] shows only minor wear with just a couple of
creases in the laminate with just slight discolouration to the
non-laminated reverse. The labels are clean with just a few
spindle marks, whilst the vinyl shows only a few light signs of
play, a strong Excellent - a top copy and only the second UK
copy we've ever had JOYS129)

JOHN LEE HOOKER Urban Blues (1967 US 12-track stereo LP on ABC
Bluesway, a great album from the Blues legend, covering quite an
array of subjects, from love & inner city life to the Detroit City riots &
tails of the railroad. The pasted picture sleeve shows a few mild
patches of paper loss to a few corners, natural with US covers of this
vintage, with all text clearly legible & complete with the catalogue
inner. The heavyweight vinyl is a lovely VG+/EX- with just mild
evidence of play. Recommended BLS-6012)

JOHN LEE HOOKER Urban Blues (Rare 1972 French Stateside label stereo
issue LP. The vinyl has been played but well looked after and remains in
near mint condition despite being over 30 years old. Preserved in the

The sleeve itself has undamaged edges and clean crisp laminate. Hooker
is one of the pioneers of the blues but always moved with the times - a
forgotten classic!)

JOHN LEE HOOKER Urban Blues (1968 UK 11-track MONO LP on
Stateside, with 'Sold In UK' label print at the top. Not widely known
among collectors, the original mono pressing of this album is now rare
as hen's teeth. The front laminated flipback picture sleeve grades
Excellent & is still a lovely off white on the back with just a few faint
edge creases in the laminate. The labels appear Near Mint with barely
a trace of play. The vinyl itself has picked up a few cosmetic
blemishes & there are a couple of light hairlines & the odd faint mark
not upsetting play on a mono setting. The vinyl has a deep sheen both
sides & grades VG/VG-. Known to fetch a three figure sum if the
condition is there, this one is impossible to find in any condition...

JOHN LEE HOOKER With John Mayall And The Groundhogs (1972 US
11-track vinyl LP - a great copy of the curious release from the blues
giant. Recorded in late 1964/early 1965, these recordings were
originally released as ...And Seven Nights, on Verve in 1965; they
were then issued as On The Waterfront by the Wand label in 1970. It's
always been known that Hooker used The Groundhogs extensively as a
backing band, but this 1972 edition is the only issue we've found to
credit another blues great, John Mayall. The vinyl is in great condition
and the sleeve is absolutely flawless, as clean as when it was first
printed - a truly unique item CH-82871)
