COMMANDER CODY & HIS LOST PLANET AIRMEN Rockpalast: Blue Rock Legends Vol. 1 (2009 UK PAL DVD - The decade between 1976 and 1986 was the classic Rockpalast era. Most of our audience remember the Rockpalast nights at the Grugahalle in Essen, which were broadcast live on German TV and via Eurovision all over Europe twice a year. Commander Cody was the guest on 1 July 1980. Art student George Frayne had already reached cult status with his band, Commander Cody & His Lost Planet Airmen. The name derived from a sci-fi TV series, and their music consisted of boogie, rock 'n' roll, country - albeit the latter not of the 'perfect world' variety but with an edge; and lots of high spirits.
