Tracklisting & More Information

More Details
Released around the same time as Version Two of Introducing The Beatles in February 1964, The Beatles & Frank Ifield On Stage contained four songs by the Beatles and eight songs by Frank Ifield.

The album’s front cover features a drawing of a mustached English statesman holding a pair of spectacles. A Beatles wig has been placed on his head. The top of the cover has the phrase "Jolly What!" in an attempt to give the album the proper British atmosphere.
The back cover to The Beatles & Frank Ifield On Stage reveals that only four Beatles songs are included on the album.

The text on the album’s back cover was written by Muriel Gaynor, a Vee-Jay employee who handled production matters and assisted Jay Lasker. The liner notes were sent by telegram to George S. Whiteman Graphic Design on January 10, 1964, for preparation of the back cover slicks.

Since all 12 songs on the album are studio recordings, the only possible justification for this album's title is that the Beatles and crooner Frank Ifield had appeared "On Stage" on the same concert bill in England on December 2, 1962

VeeJay Stereo pressings are much rarer than the Mono.

The deep groove label design features the colourband/rainbow rim label design with the Vee Jay Records logo in sqaure brackets, printed by Monarch Records in Los Angeles, California. With 'Stereo' on the right side at 3 o'clock, with left justified artist-only credits. Also has the catalogue number printed as 'VJLPS 1085'

The matrix information is hand scratched on each side and is follows

Side One 64-3852-S (triangle)6298
Side Two 64-3853-S (triangle)6298x

And has MR machine stamped on both sides.

The back pasted picture sleeve has a purple spine and printed with the catalogue number 'VJS 1085' and the title 'Jolly What! - The Beatles & Frank Ifield' all in white. The back has the word compilation mispelt as 'copulation', but this actually wasn't an error!!

Condition
The sleeve is in remarkable condition considering it's 50 year history and shows just a little minor to the edges and corners, with a light crease mark to the bottom left corner. The back slick displays minimal discolouration, with vert small section in the top left corner missing. The spine has some scuffing at the top & both, but the print is still present.

This copy also includes the original advertising paper inner, which has a couple of splits and signs of age.

The vinyl exhibits on a handful of light surface marks and plays superbly with unsurpassed stereo sound, only the occasional light crackle is evident, most of the album plays with superb clarity, the pauses between tracks remain near silent!

A guaranteed genuine stereo rarity in a really nice & respectable condition!
