THE RAPIERS The Phantom Stage (Extremely rare signed 1960 UK private press 7" single with solid centre Iflord Sound Record Service labels, also featuring 'Valencia' - two fantastic British Beat instrumentals in The Shadows mould! Not tobe confused with the Colin Pryce-Jones-led group of the same name, who, confusingly, played the same sixties twang-style tribute, & even more confusingly, took this song into their own repertoire(!), this was a one-time group from Dagenham, Essex led by Steven Webb. Probably only 99 copies of these were pressed to avoid tax costs. The A-side label is signed by guitarist, Barry Johnson in blue biro. The b-side label is signed in pencil by the main songwriter, Steven Webb & the rhythm section, Stephen & Jack. The vinyl is a very nice VG+/EX- with no scratches & just the very lightest few signs of play ILF272)
