Caravan - 1st - VG

CARAVAN Caravan (Super rare 1969 UK debut 8-track STEREO LP with machine stamped A1/B1 matrices, housed in a front laminated flipback 'pillar' sleeve with 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printing credit. There are subtle differences, nuances & even track length variations between the stereo & mono mixes for this album, thus we would recommend a collector with a keen ear to try both. Condition :-

We should start by saying that we have never had the pleasure of stocking one of these before. The amount of Prog/Rock & general 60s-70s vinyl that comes through our doors on a day by day basis & time & time again this one has eluded us...

The sleeve is a thing of beauty in itself. The colours remain rich & vivid, there are no splits or writing & all text is legible. There is a little straining & mild scuffing at the edges, & apart from some mild ring wear or laminate creasing, this copy still holds up remarkably considering its 45 years.

The gold labels reveal spindle wear by the centre hole, indicating past action on the turntable.

The vinyl has been professionally cleaned & reaches an honest VG-/VG grade. There are a few light paper scuffs, the odd faint mark or axial wear to the grooves but upon playback, there is little in the way of any intrusive background noise & it plays fantastic & without fault. What's more, it's a sorely neglected early British Prog/Psych milestone that really should hold a higher place amongst the likes of Pink Floyd's Piper etc. In other words, highly recommended.
