Recorded at Abbey Road and Olympic Studios between June and November 1967, by the time of the April '68 release of 'Odessey And Oracle', the Zombies had effectively split-up. This obviously hampered the album's commercial breakthrough and sales were low as a result. Although the STEREO edition of the album was subsequently re-pressed by CBS in the wake of the US success of the 'Time Of The Season' single, there was only one initial pressing of the MONO version - a superb copy which we present here.

Picture Sleeve

The front laminate is crisp & clean with the colours in Terry Quirk's psychedelic cover design wonderfully vivid. There is creasing to the laminate at the edges but nothing severe & all text including along the spine remains perfectly legible, complete with the die-cut CBS inner. Although not mint, this is still a lovely example.

Vinyl

In bright light the labels reveal spindle marks to show play (who wouldn't want to play such a gem?), however, after a professional rinse through a top-of-the-line Matrix machine, the vinyl has come up looking sparkling. We have play tested this classic & boy what a treat, it plays through like a dream. A Rose For Emily, Beechwood Park, This Will Be Our Year, the majestic album closer, Time Of The Season... it's all here!

On closer inspection, there are a number of light hairlines on the disc, but having listened to it all the way through, any surface noise is kept to an absolute minimum & just one or two very faint clicks on the odd occasion do not detract from the listener's enjoyment at all. Trust us, this one comes highly recommended.

We are very pleased to offer this mono rarity; strictly mint copies have hit four figure sums in the past, making this is a very commendable VG+/EX- example at a fairer price.
