This fabulous Ringo signature toy snare drum was produced in 1964 by UK company Selcol - a subsidiary of Selmer dedicated to the production of plastic toys and garden furniture!

The shell is translucent red acrylic with a golden glitter, and the lugs and rims are also made of thick 'die cast' gold plastic. The snare is intact, tied on to the underside. It comes complete with the original sticks, brushes and wooden tripod stand!

The top skin features a portrait of Ringo with facsimile autograph. Often these skins were broken by over enthusiastic children, who then threw the drums away - consequently very few have survived the last 40+ years, even less so in this sort of condition!

The budding Ringo in this instance mainly used brushes rather than sticks to play, and as a result the skin shows only circular scratches (hey, nice technique there) around the outside edge from the brushes' wire strands. There are very few indentations, no cracks and the image of Ringo is clear and unfaded.

The shell is bright and clean, and although there is a crack in both the top and bottom rims, they are made from such robust plastic that there is no movement, and so they are very unlikely to widen.

The wooden tripod stand is missing one of the plastic fixings which attach to the bottom rim, however this is not visible when the drum is set up on the stand for display, and does not affect stability. The original drumsticks are included and although one has the tip missing (and being non-signature items could be replaced), they both retain a beautiful patina of age which makes them essential to this set.

A novel and evocative piece of original Beatles memorabilia in the kind of condition you will be very hard pushed to better!
