Cavern Club Postcard

BEATLES Cavern Club Postcard (Superb full set of Beatles autographs from 1962 on the reverse of the earliest known promo postcard of the Fabs which dates from a fan club organized gig that took place on April 5 1962. The concert is well known to Beatles collectors as for old times sake, the group played first in their black leather outfits and then changed into their new Beno Dorn suits and ties for the second half. The cards were produced when Pete Best was still a member of the band. Ringo didn’t actually join the band until 18 August 1962 so the card had to have been signed after this date, although probably not long after which makes this a particularly rare item. The postcard originally measured 5.5" x 3.5" but Pete Best has been torn from the photo, it’s not hard to imagine that that this particularly loyal fan probably ripped off the Pete Best part so as not to upset the Ringo when she presented it to him to sign.
It features a now classic Dezo Hoffman image on the front, though now only Paul, George and John can be seen. These cards were given out at the Cavern Club throughout April 1962 and many of them were signed, though few turn up onto the collectors market.

Obviously though it's nice that the autographs are on something so old, it is regrettable that the card is not intact and of course that is reflected in the price. What is most important however is that the rear of the card has been quite clearly signed by all 4 Beatles.

John has signed in a red ballpoint pen in a very hurried fashion, probably caught up in a throng a girls all wanting his signature, whilst George, Paul and Ringo have signed in black ballpoint pen, with Paul adding xxx under his name.

There is a crease which goes through Pauls name but this doesn't detract from the historical significance of the piece, nor does it affect the autograph which is still clearly visible.

This card would look Fab should the lucky buyer decide to have it mounted and framed with a picture of the band. It would make a great display item, investment piece and a guaranteed talking point - the envy of your friends.
