THE BEATLES Corgi Die-Cast Toy (Very rare 1969 UK 5" metal Yellow Submarine with a revolving periscope & two opening hatches revealing The Beatles in it's original box. This is an officially licensed product, made by Mettoy Co. in Swansea, that bears the copyright text '1968 King Features Syndicate' on the box outer. Both Sub & box are in fantastic condition. In recent years this has become one of the most sought after pieces of Beatle memorabilia!)

The Yellow Submarine :-

The sub itself is in fantastic condition with no missing chips of paint, working hatches & revolving periscope & still with all three propellor blades!
It is missing three 'portholes' on the starboard side where the original transfer has worn away, but that is the ONLY significant defect.
When the hatch switches are pulled, the plastic hand painted Beatle figures pop up exactly as they are meant to and the hatches still close with a satisfying click.
When the sub wheels are turned, the plastic periscope still revolves.
A Superb example.

The Box :-

This is the cream on top ! Even if you were lucky enough to find another sub in as great condition as this, you would be very unlikely to find the original box too. The main box has a cellophane front window, through which the sub can be viewed, & measures 3½" x 6½" x 2½ with a great backing card extending another 3½" at the back with pictures of the cartoon Fabs characters. The back of the box has 'The Beatles Yellow Submarine' heading text abouve a picture of the sub & characters from the film with 'Corgi Toys' & 'Made In Great Britain, Playcraft Toys Limited London' text at the bottom.
The bottom of the box has a stylised set of 'instructions' for operating your toy.

The box is in wonderful condition with minimal fading or discolouration, just some very light shelfwear at the edges of the bottom & a small crease in the top left corner. The backing is still firmly attached to the main box, the opening flaps are intact & untorn & the cellophane too is intact and as new. Normally, when found, these boxes have the opening flaps hanging off or missing & seldom is the cellophane without a tear. The backing card is normally bent at the centre too where it joins the main box, so to find one in this good condition, looking like it has been kept in a cupboard for nearly forty years from new is extraordinary.

A fantastic copy of this extremely rare original Beatle Toy !!
