Tracklisting & More Information

Background
Although the Italian albums appear to be almost equally scarce and often found in less than Good condition, the Beatles in Italy album is highly sought-after. In its original pressing, the cover is gatefold, showing the Beatles on stage. The album is not a "live" album, instead featuring a collection of various non-LP tracks. Because of its scarcity, it has been highly counterfeited.

This album was only available in MONO until the 1968 reissues. It was first issued with a red label, these are almost impossible to find having a similar scarcity value as a UK black and gold Parlophone label Please Please Me.

In mid 1965 "Parlophon" (Notice the missing 'e') began issuing all their albums with a silver a black label. In 1968 the albums were reissued on a "Parlophone" (with 'e') label not Apple as many other countries did. The cover for Beatles In Italy changed, only the first issues have the unique gatefold picture sleeve.

This item appears to be a transitory issue as it features a black and silver 'Parlaphon' label as issued 1965-68 but a non gatefold sleeve used on the 1968-69 one EMI boxed labels, however it lacks the EEC '3c' catalogue number that was introduced in 1969!

Now to condition.....

The labels are matt black finish with bright silver "Parlophon" logo and tracklisting also in silver. There are marks around the spindlehole on both sides, signifying many plays.

The Matrix Numbers are machine stamped, they are as follows

Side One XX 9009 1
Side Two XX 9010 1

The date 13 7 65 has also been machine stamped into the dead vinyl.

The condition of Italian records generally is less than than those from the UK, US or other European Countries, but collectors are usually prepared to accept inferior quality items due to the scarcity of these unique Italian LPs.

The vinyl displays many light surface marks and plays with some background noise evident in the quieter sections, but does play through without jumping, clicking or popping and this copy is still a highly respectable one and far superior to most that surface onto the collectors market. None of the audio content on this album is exclusive to this issue.

The sleeve is the single pocket, non gatefold issue with laminated front as issued with the one EMI box 3rd issue, however as previously mentioned it lacks the EEC '3c' catalogue number which was introduced in 1969.
The sleeve itself has some sticker residue in the bottom right hand corner which has caused the laminate to lift slightly in that area. The edges and spine are strong and free from excessive shelf scuffing, the spine print is clearly legible.
The rear of the sleeve has not had the benefit of being protected by laminate and has started to display some minor ringwear, but remains in fine condition overall.

A highly respectable copy at less than half the price of what a mint copy would sell for. Your chance to own this rarity at a very adventageous price!
