Tracklisting & More Information
In the autumn of 1963, four young Englishmen landed on Arlanda airport in Stockholm. Their hair was a bit on the long side, but otherwise they seemed neat, polite and friendly. The four boys were, of course, John, Paul, George and Ringo – The Beatles. On their visit, they carried with them a new sound and a new style. Sweden and the world were never the same again.
On October 23, 2003, the dream book for everybody who loves The Beatles is published: YEAH! YEAH! YEAH! – The Beatles erövrar Sverige. It’s 40 years to the day since the four Englishmen visited Sweden for the first time. Back then, the Beatles had just hit the big time with songs such as ”Please Please Me”, ”From Me To You” and ”She Loves You”. The visit to Sweden was their very first tour outside Great Britain, and included performances in the towns of Karlstad, Eskilstuna, Gothenburg, Borås and Stockholm. During their stay in Sweden they also found time to appear on radio and television – today these recordings are legendary and have been seen and heard by millions all over the world. In 1964 The Beatles were back in Sweden again – now as international superstars!
In YEAH! YEAH! YEAH! – The Beatles erövrar Sverige, journalists Börje Lundberg and Ammi Bohm have charted The Beatles’ adventures in Sweden – day by day, minute by minute. Lundberg and Bohm let us relive everything that happened: the chaotic concerts, the reception by the dedicated fans, the reactions in the media. The story is largely told trough new interviews with more than 100 people who met The Beatles in Sweden: famous artists, legendary radio and television hosts, wide-eyed fans who could socialise with the band almost as if they were close friends – and many more! The authors have also interviewed other Swedes with a Beatles connection: for example Peter Goldman, who directed the pioneering videos for “Strawberry Fields Forever” and “Penny Lane”.
"Writing this book has been a fascinating journey back in time," says Börje Lundberg. "The 60s are still here! People love relating their memories about The Beatles."
Some of the foremost Swedish Beatles experts have ensured the factual accuracy in the book. YEAH! YEAH! YEAH! – The Beatles erövrar Sverige is richly illustrated with hundreds of photographs, many never before published.
The book concludes with a discography, covering the Swedish Beatles releases. Every record is presented in full colour, with different release details and a price guide explaining which issues are the most sought-after on the collector’s market.
There is also a bonus CD entitled Burling möter Beatles (Burling Meets The Beatles). This marks the first official release of the legendary Beatles interviews made by radio broadcaster Klas Burling: before the first Sweden visit, in the airplane just a few minutes after their arrival in 1964, and during the actual visits. A unique audio document featuring four young and enthusiastic Beatle members – just at the start of an unparalleled career. Swedish language, hardbound, 220 x 280 mm, 352 pages.
