BLONDE ON BLONDE - RADIO STATION COPY - MONO

Very few of these genuine first issue white label Mono copies were made and distributed. On the rare occasion that you do see them they are usually in very poor shape. This example is simply stunning - probably the best you will ever see.

Both vinyl discs are in near MINT condition. Any visible traces on the playing surface look to be caused by handling and removal from the rough paper inner sleeves. This is a beautiful playing copy, in robust Mono, of one of Dylan's most classic albums.

Unbelievably, the gatefold picture sleeve remains inside its original shrink! At some stage this was opened, presumably to check whether the discs inside were indeed the rare white label versions. Most of the shrink remains intact and the gatefold will not actually open out unless you decide to split the remaining sealed edges. By carefully peering through the gap between each fold you can just see the outline of Claudia Cardinale's head, confirming that this is the original sleeve.

The shrink still has its title sticker intact. The front and back covers of Blonde On Blonde famously had no titles printed on them; the classic image of Bob was presumably enough to tell you that this was his latest album. Most shrinks were torn off and discarded by avid fans when these LP's arrived home and were placed on turntables for the first time. The sticker is probably even rarer than the white label vinyl! This one reads, "Bob Dylan's New Album Deluxe 2-Record Set Featuring Rainy Day Women #12 & 35 and I Want You".

The rear of the sleeve has been half-covered with the Columbia Records Radio Station Service sticker, also known as a timing strip. Because this white label promo copy was destined for radio station use, this sticker shows the complete track listing for each side and disc, along with the corresponding running time for each track. This sticker is unique to the white label variant.

The white labels have simple black print, showing basic information in a clearly legible form. Radio DJ's didn't want psychedlic labels spinning on their decks as they couldn't make out what track to cue from the confusing label copy! The spindle area shows evidence of perhaps only 1 or 2 plays and you have to look very closely to see those very faint traces.

All in all, this is a stunning condition copy, of a supremely rare variant, of this classic LP. We're confident it's the best condition example of the Mono white label promo that you will ever see. As a pure collectable it should not disappoint...as for the incredible music, it definitely doesn't - but you probably know that already!
