A FEW OF THE MOST RECENT ITEMS WE WANT...

SUGARHILL GANG Sugarhill Gang (Super Rare Test Pressing for the Debut 1980 UK 6-track LP by the pioneering group who brought hip-hop to wider attention with their hit single, 'Rapper's Delight', the first of its kind to hit the US Top.40 & top 3 in the UK, presented here in its full 15:34 minutes. The labels are plain white with just an 'A' sticker for the first side & the earliest A-1/B-1 matrices are etched in the run-outs. Strictly pressed in tiny numbers, this test issue comes housed in a plain card sleeve with the catalogue number stamped on the back & forty year old tape still holds up the original label copy sheet to the front [resulting in a couple of edge splits to the paper]. All the publishing details for the tracks are clear & you can see a settlement was reached with Chic Music Inc. for the pinching of 'Good Times'! There is a '31st Jan 1980' review date as well as Dave McAleer's name at the bottom, the UK record executive/DJ behind the first ever rap hit here, as well as an authorisation signature. Only a small handful of these test pressings would have survived, made for the intentions of sonic review only, & were never intended for sale to the general public. The vinyl remains in Excellent to Near Mint condition with merely the lightest evidence of a couple of plays in its life. Should be a future collectable! SHLP245)

OTIS SPANN The Blues Of Otis Spann (1964 UK 12-track mono vinyl LP on the red unboxed Decca label, only the second album released by the American blues/piano legend, front laminated picture sleeve with detailed liner notes on reverse. The sleeve shows light creasing and has a strip of discolouration at the top on the reverse from an earlier tape repair, whilst the vinyl shows a little spindle wear but is otherwise superb with only light signs of play - blues classic and only the second time we've ever had it! LK4615)

Tracklisting: Rock Me Mama I Came From Clarksdale Keep Your Hand Out Of My Pocket Spann's Boogie Sarah Street The Blues Don't Like Nobody Meet Me In The Bottom Lost Sheep In The Fold I Got A Feeling Jangleboogie T 99 Natural Days
