 | THE BEATLES Rubber Soul (1965 UK first pressing 14-track mono
vinyl LP with 'The Gramophone Co' and 'Sold In The UK' label text.
The Side One matrix is XEX 579-1, confirming that this is the rare
LOUD CUT variant, front laminated flipbackpicture sleeve.
The sleeve shows some general edgwear and creasing, as well as
some light foxing marks to the back but is still in Very Good condition
for its many years. The vinyl grades Good, as there are some notable
surface hairlines and a**See 'More Info' for further details on condition** #Top 500 Greatest Albums Of All Timedeeper hairline mark on side 1, as well as some
light crackle. A rare and lesser seen variant of this acclaimed 60s
classic! PMC1267)
Tracklisting: The sleeve is nice, with a few minor marks from storage around the edges and a little laminate creasing to the front, with a perfectly legible spine, with several discolouration marks. There is a name annotation on the reverse in 'copperplate' handwriting.
The labels have spindle marks on both sides indicating that it has been played reasonably often, however the labels are otherwise bright and clearly legible.
The matrices in the run-outs read:
Side One XEX579-1
Side Two XEX580-1
The vinyl shows a fair few obvious surface marks of varying intensity, but thanks to the quality of EMI's heavyweight pressings of the sixties these do not greatly spoil the playback, although a deterioration in sound is noticeable, with a few clicks & pops caused by scratches. The vinyl is graded G/G+ but plays higher.
All in all an respectable copy of this desirable first UK 'Loud Cut' pressing at a fair price

Recommended)
Tracklisting: The first thing that strikes you about Kenny Burrell's second Blue Note album, simply titled Kenny Burrell (BLP 1543) and released as part of Blue Note's fabled 1500 series, is the cover, which features an illustration by Andy Warhol, the first of three Blue Note covers the soon-to-be famed artist collaborated on with designer Reid Miles. The second is the striking music, which is drawn from four different sessions recorded in 1956 with the great guitarist featured in a variety of different configurations. The opener, a brisk romp through Harold Arlen's "Get Happy," features Tommy Flanagan on piano, Paul Chambers on bass, Kenny Clarke on drums, and Candido on congas. That leads into a stunning solo guitar rendition of the Gershwin tune "But Not For Me," which is followed by the live track "Mexico City," a piece by Kenny Dorham and recorded with the trumpeter's sextet at the Café Bohemia. Burrell and Flanagan are joined by bassist Oscar Pettiford and drummer Shadow Wilson on the Basie band number "Moten Swing" and Burrell's "Cheeta," and tenor saxophonist Frank Foster makes it a quintet for remainder of Side 2 on Pettiford's "Now See How You Are," Burrell's "Phinupi," and the Burton Lane standard "How About You."
