HIGH TIDE Sea Shanties (Very rare 80s Japanese promotional-only
sample issue of the 1969 6-track LP, described as one of the first
'progressive metal' albums from the UK. What ever the case, this is
dirty fuzzed-up, psychedelic rock of the highest order, and certainly
one of the heaviest of the late sixties to come from these shores.
Features Tony Hill [of The Misunderstood] on detuned fuzz duties, plus
Simon House [later Hawkind] on violin. The custom picture sleeve
replicates the original album's artwork with Japanese text on the
reverse and has only some light foxing to show for age, the vinyl is in

HIGH TIDE Sea Shanties (Very rare 1969 first UK issue 6-track
stereo vinyl LP on the blue & turquoise Liberty label, described as
one of the first 'progressive metal' albums from the UK. What
ever the case, this is dirty fuzzed-up, psychedelicrock of the
highest order, & certainly one of the heaviest of the late sixties to
come from these shores. Features Tony Hill [of The
Misunderstood] on detuned fuzz duties, plus Simon House [later
Hawkwind] on violin. The gatefold sleeve looks stunning,
especially the full colour spread inside, with some discoluration
showing to the mostly white cover, otherwise holds up superbly.
The labels have only a couple of light spindle marks, whilst the
vinyl is super clean leaving it Near Mint. Auction terms such as
'monster' & 'killer' were invented for records like this one!

HIGH TIDE Sea Shanties (Rare 1969 UK first issue 6-track stereo vinyl
LP on the blue Liberty label, the debut album from the English rockers
which was also one of the first albums to use violin as a rock
instrument as played by Simon House [later with Hawkwind].
The mostly white Paul Whitehead-designed gatefold picture sleeve has
a fantastic illustration printed across the inside spread and has some
evidence of age discolouration, a little sticker residue to the front and
shelfwear to the edges & spine however, the vinyl remains in wonderful
condition with minimal evidence of play to show for its FIFTY plus year!

The gatefold sleeve has weakened over time with discolouring
from handling, aprice sticker tear top right & heavy scuffing
along the spine, resulting in a split in the middle. The artwork
inside still looks amazing however, & the vinyl is in VG/VG-
condition, playing well but with significant spindle wear on the
labels & a handful of light paper hairline scuffs. Far from
mint, this remains a welcome collection filler, with near mint
copies well up in the three figure sum territory! LBS83264)
