A FEW OF THE MOST RECENT ITEMS WE WANT...
 | JOHN LENNON Shaved Fish (Rare 1975 Hungarian 12-track vinyl
LP with original lyric inner, unique artwork fully laminated picture
sleeve with titles in English & Hungarian. What is bizarre about
this album is that it was actually pressed by Dum Dum, part of
The Gramophone Company Of India. More information on this
curiosity can be found in the 'More Info' section, but for now
we'll leave that be. The sleeve has survived the last thirty five
plus years reasonably well, with a section oflaminate loss at the
opening and a bit of light edge scuffing but still remains in
respectable condition. The inner is thin paper, rather than thick
card & is printed by Cover & Cartons of Calcutta, and remains
very good with a split, tear and a small amount of paper loss,
and has been tape repaired. The vinyl displays some minor
surface scuffs but nothing too heavy. A respectable, if not mint,
copy of this very curious album PCS7173)
Tracklisting: 01. Give Peace A Chance
02. Cold Turkey
03. Instant Karma!
04. Power To The People
05. Mother
06. Woman Is the Nigger Of The World
07. Imagine
08. Whatever Gets You Through The Night
09. Mind Games
10. #9 Dream
11. Happy Xmas (War Is Over)
12. Give Peace A Chance (Reprise)
This album was pressed in India, specifically for Hungary, using EMI master plates. "Why India ?", you ask. Well ....
To survive severe government import restrictions and Foreign Exchange difficulties, EMI India had to have an extremely successful export operation. Because of this, EMI India exported records all over the world, including Eastern Europe from 1966 onward.
India had bilateral trade agreements in place with certain countries in Eastern Europe, like Hungary, so payment could be made in Indian Rupees, thus avoiding their Foreign Exchange problems.
Exports like this continued well into the mid Seventies, although as EMI opened more pressing plants around the world, demand for these Indian pressings tailed off.
Once again, you ask; "So, why India ?"
India manufactured and marketed records in over forty different languages, so were well set up for foreign pressings and their requisite font styles. That's why India.
Several thousand of these were made especially for Hungary with this unique sleeve, making it certainly one of the oddest pressings in the world. |
 | RUSH Moving Pictures (Classic 1981 UK 7-track vinyl LP, the
eighth studio album by the Canadian rockers, their
best-selling & arguably best known album, including Tom
Sawyer, Witch Hunt and the maniacal instrumental YYZ, glossy
picture sleevewith the original lyric inner. The sleeve does
have some notable edgewear and spine scuffing, but the vinyl
shows very little evidence of play)
Tracklisting: 1. Tom Sawyer
2. Red Barchetta
3. YYZ
4. Limelight
5. The Camera Eye
6. Witch Hunt
7. Vital Signs |
 | MOODY BLUES Go Now! (Ultra rare test pressing for
the 1964 UK 7" single, a classic No. 1 hit, custom studio labels
with 'Demonstration Sample - Not For Sale' print and has the
artist & track title stamped, with an intact four prong centre, also
including It's Easy Child, within a Decca die-cut company sleeve.
The vinyl plays through without fault, despite a number of light
surface marks. These were produced in a tiny miniscule run &
never sold to the public in this form) |
