With their 1978 eponymous debut, Van Halen simultaneously rewrote the rules of rock guitar and hard rock in general. Guitarist Eddie Van Halen redefined what electric guitar could do whilst vocalist David Lee Roth brought the role of a metal singer to near-performance art standards. Sammy Hagar replaced Roth in 1985 after a falling out with EVH and helped them top the charts through the late '80s and early '90s. However, sales began to slide in the mid-90s and tensions between Hagar and Eddie began to arise. Then began a bizarre round of hiring and firings with involving Hagar, Roth and former Extreme frontman Gary Cherone. After just one album, Cherone was fired. Rumors began to swirl once more of a DLR/Van Halen reunion whipped fans into a frenzy but it would be Sammy Hagar who would return to the fold for 2004’s 'Best of both Worlds'. Unfortunately the accompanying tour was curtailed due to personal differences again rising to the surface. With nearly three decades of jaw dropping rock to choose from there is no shortage of back catalogue rarities, amazing memorabilia and quality collectibles, all available right here in our specialist Van Halen collectors store.
