THE SMITHS William it Was Really Nothing (Very rare 1984 UK
Rough Trade hand set preliminary artwork design concept for
the 12" vinyl single. Incredible [and early] example of Smiths
artwork, the keen eyed might spot that the 'The Smiths' band
name text was amended slightly on the official release, making
this just that extra bit special [as if 100% genuine original Rough
Trade/Jo Slee Smiths artwork wasn't special enough!].
Presented on high quality line board with hand annotated tracing
paper overlay and frontleaf, colour bar charts and measuring a
huge 30" x 20½"! This incredibly rare item is in superb condition
and is just begging to take pride of place in your Smiths
collection!)

THE SMITHS William It Was Really Nothing (Very scarce 1987 issue UK
Rough Trade 2-track solid centre 7" vinyl single backed with How Soon
Is Now. The song is popularly believed to have been written by
Morrissey about his friend Billy Mackenzie, lead singer ofThe Associates,
with whom he was rumoured to be romantically linked. Housed in a
mauve tinted picture sleeve featuring Billie Whitelaw as Lottie from the
1968 movie 'Charlie Bubbles', directed by Albert Finney. The sleeve has
a small stickermark in the top right corner, but the vinyl is in near mint condition. This issue has now become increasingly hard to find and much rarer than the original issue RT166).

THE SMITHS William It Was Really Nothing (Stunning and
very rare 1984 UK withdrawn RED uncut artwork
proof for the 7" vinyl single front and reverse sleeve. Whilst
the tracklisting for the band's fifth single was already
confirmed [William, Please, Please, Please & How Soon Is
Now, were all demoed by Marr in one feverish weekend of
recording apparently!], this early artwork proof is in RED,
completely different to the green and lilac finished sleeves.
Hand annotations alongthe side bar indicate this is a '1st
proof' and final decisions regarding the font and layout were
still unconfirmed at this stage. Measuring 8" x 18" the item
has been never been folded, remains free of creases, rips or
tears and is in superb overall condition - a true rarity for the
Smiths collector and just begging to be framed!)
