CAITLIN ROSE Own Side Now (2010 UK 10-track CD album - The
Nashville born singer appeared amidst a whirlwind of praise at the
start of the year with her stunning first offering, the critically
acclaimed 'Dead Flowers' EP. Produced by Mark Nevers [Lambchop,
Will Oldham & Andrew Bird] at the Beech House in Nashville, 'Own
Side Now' is sheer perfection, drawing further on her love for the
female greats such as Linda Ronstadt and Stevie Nicks [Fleetwood
Mac's 'That's Alright' gets a delightful airing here] as well as those
from a pure country lineage such as Patsy Cline, and firmly places her

CAITLIN ROSE Dead Flowers (2010 UK 7-track CD mini-album -
Hailing from Nashville, 22-year-old Caitlin Rose is no ordinary country
singer. Blessed with a startling, precocious native talent, a silvery,
bell-clear, brilliant voice and crucially, an undeniable charisma along
with defiant songwriting style all her own. A precursor to a full length
album due later in 2010, 'Dead Flowers' is a distilled taste of Caitlin
Rose, with the help of Andy Wilkins on pedal steel guitar, Zach
Serchfield on guitar, Bob Grant on mandolin, and Travis Collingsworth
on bass. Her two cover versions are the title track, The Rolling Stones
'Dead Flowers' turned into a forlorn, pedal-steel infused ballad and an
elegant, torch song take on Patsy Cline's 'Three Cigarettes in an
Ashtray'. Elsewhere we find bare knuckled honky-tonk on the teenage
pregnancy tale 'Shotgun Wedding', tambourine-led acapella on the
ever-so-sassy 'Gorilla Man', while on the lovelorn lament 'T-Shirt',
Caitlin shows a songwriting ability well beyond her years!)
