THE SEARCH PARTY Montgomery Chapel (Limited Edition 2015 US 180gram Vinyl issue of the 1969 10-track LP, at the time the only authorized version of this collector's piece. Inspired by the West Coast psychedelic sounds of the era, The Search Party took compositions by their spiritual mentor, Rev. Nicholas T Freund [a Catholic middle-aged priest & producer!], & turned them into primitive California garage folk with fuzz leads & reverb-drenched vocals. Most Christian 'folk-rock' LPs suffer from still having one foot left in Sunday School, but these young seminarians definitely broke through to the other side, with an unparalleled 9-minute downer folk-rock excursion with heavy soul-searching lyrics ['So Many Things Have Got Me Down'] that alone makes this album a must own. Comes housed in a deluxe replica picture sleeve with four-page booklet packed with info & band history by Rev. Nicholas T. Freund, including photos from his personal archive. Both the sleeve & vinyl are Near Mint)
