Universal Record

VARIOUS Universal Record (Very strange 1967/8 Taiwanese 22-track pair of 10" mono compilation LPs with one pressed on RED vinyl, both in unique poly lined die cut sleeves. Needless to say, these were far from Hi-Fi whennew but both of these show only light scuffs and hairlines. These were part of a series of strange compilations put out by Universal Records [no relation] in the mid sixties and early seventies in Taiwan and each boasted an eclectic selectionof artists)

Tracklisting & More Information

As I've already said, these are far from Hi-Fi & both discs have several surface scuffs evident, most light but some less so. that said, they still play through without skipping or jumping, which is a plus. Being simply strips of paper in a glorified plastic bag, the sleeves are now dog eared but still complete and free from writing.

That was the bad side. The good side is that these strange records are becoming quite collectable in their own right and they are seldom found in any better condition than these are. The reason that they are becoming collectable is that, unlike the 'Top of The Pops' type compilation albums released in the UK that featured unknown session musicians, these feature the original artists.
Often unexpected songs turn up and make these presses some of the hardest ones to find for completists. The sleeves actually list some of the other titles in the series on the back - Collect them all !!

I'm not going to get away without a tracklisting, so here you go:
