HAWKWIND Hawkwind Does Live! (Incredibly rare 1970 UK 10" x 18"
full colour promotional poster with artwork designed by A. Tanner for
the debut album on Liberty. Compared to some of the psychedelic
offering that were to come, this is quite a reserved poster for
Hawkwind, my suspicion being that it was issued by the record
company [Liberty] for in-store display. It has all the right ingredients,
just not arranged or presented in the eccentric ways that the band
would later explore. Theonly text on the poster [apart from the 'A.
Tanner' artists name at the bottom] is the band name at the top with
'Does Live! A new album on Liberty' immediately below & the Liberty
logo & LBS 83348 catalogue number at the bottom of the artwork.
Now, I've seen a few Hawks relics pass through here ... a Hurry On
Sundown demo, a cloth bag Sonic Attack ... but they were all well
documented if F. rare. This is something I've NEVER seen
before & didn't even suspect it existed until a couple of days ago. The
source, authenticity & date period is without question, so this is indeed
an official Liberty poster for the debut album. It is also MINT, having
been stored rolled in amongst many other period posters from new.
Gobsmacking stuff & easily enough to shave the cheese off of your
Pizza. Probably the rarest Hawks item I have ever come across,
simply because I've never seen it before & I thought that I'd seen
everything Hawks related. Extremely F. Rare !!!)
