From Genesis To Revelation - Mono - EX

GENESIS From Genesis To Revelation (Super Rare 1969 UK 13-track MONO [Yes, Mono] vinyl LP with unboxed Decca logo red label. Almost a mythical rarity amongst Genesis collectors, with copies hardly ever surfacing. The condition of the front laminated sleeve shows just some light laminate creasing on the front and a little minor wear with a couple of scuffs to the back & the beginnings of a small seam tear at the bottom near the opening, however these can easily be forgiven due to its sheer rarity, complete with the original lyric insert & Decca red bordered poly lined inner LK4990)

Tracklisting & More Information

YES, you read correctly, this is the MONO version that is almost mythical for its rarity value...

BACKGROUND

From Genesis to Revelation was the first album by Genesis released in March 1969 on Decca Records in England. Produced by Jonathan King, who discovered them back in 1967, while the members of Genesis were pupils at Charterhouse School.

The LP featured the original line up of Peter Gabriel, Tony Banks, Mike Rutherford and Anthony Phillips. Once one of their demo tapes caught the attention of Jonathan King he took them under his wing. After replacing Chris Stewart with John Silver on drums, Genesis' producer had them compose an album's worth of songs loosely based on the Bible.

This slightly pretentious venture was cut in August 1968 - while the boys were on school holidays - and later overdubbed with strings, much to the band's chagrin. This concept album with no gaps in between the tracks is a statement of their sound at that time, which changed radically in later years.

From Genesis To Revelation was issued in a black sleeve with its title scribed in gothic gold on the top left hand side. With little else to go by, the record shops stacked the LP in the religious sections and it was consequently impossible to find. Its initial sales tally was an embarrassing 600 copies, of which, only about 150 were Mono.

Other than being part of the album title, the band's name was omitted from the sleeve because Decca had recently discovered an obscure American act also calling itself Genesis, and asked the band to consider changing its name to avoid confusion (they obviously never did).

CONDITION

As previously stated the condition of the laminated sleeve is excellent with just a little wear evident but much less than would normally be seen in an album this age & type.

The lyric insert is in perfect condition with no writing, rips or tears.

The vinyl is wonderful & remains VG+/EX- with just a couple of light surface marks to show for its forty years and none deep enough to affect play.
Upon playgrading, the sound is still full and rich, with little crackle apparent except during run in. Even in quiet passages, there is little surface noise evident despite its few surface scuffs & a couple of spindle marks around the centre hole. There are a couple of audible clicks, only noticable in very quiet moments, that are eclipsed by the full reproduction of this original heavyweight mono pressing. They don't come much better than this.

In this superb condition, it is very worthy of owning and the last copy we had sold in a few hours. Don't miss out on this fantastic investment grade LP.

YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!
