 | ROLLING STONES The Rolling Stones No. 2 (1965 UK third label
variant 12-track mono LP with 'deep groove' unboxed Decca
logo 'ffrr' labels & front laminated picture sleeve with the
controversial 'blind man' text on the back. Although this copy isgraded VG it actually plays pretty well & the quality of this early
sixties pressing shines through LK4661) See 'More Info'
for details on condition ...
Tracklisting: The group's second British album actually appeared after their second U.S. LP, mostly owing to the fact that the British rock & roll audience wasn't focused on the long-player as a medium (singles and EPs were the driving force of the business in England then).
It uses the same David Bailey cover shot that had graced the U.S issued '12 X 5' album two months earlier, but only four songs (Under The Boardwalk, Suzie Q, Grown Up Wrong and Time Is On My Side) overlap on the two albums.
Rather, Rolling Stones No. 2 offered seven songs that weren't to make it out in America until four months later on 'The Rolling Stones Now!' It also includes one of the group's best blues covers, their version of Muddy Waters' I Can't Be Satisfied, which wasn't released in America until 1973 and features some killer slide playing by Brian Jones. The U.K. LP was originally released in mono only.
The labels are red 'Deep Groove' with unboxed or open Decca logo and ffrr 'ear' logo.
The matrix numbers are machine stamped into the 'dead wax' areas. They are as follows:
Side One XARL-6619-1A
Side Two XARL-6620-1A
Condition : -
The sleeve shows some creasing to the laminate at the edges, however no laminate has been lost and all print remains clearly legible & better than its age would suggest. There is some age yellowing and mild discolouration on the unlaminated back.
The vinyl has obviously been played, with the previous owner's name on the label on Side 1, with noticeable spindle marks around the centre hole & some hairlines & scuffs to the playing surface. The disc has been professionally cleaned & given the quality of sixties heavyweight vinyl, playback is still remarkable, performing far better than it looks & with surface noise kept to a minimum.
A very respectable copy at a fair price
