 | THE JOHN DUMMER BLUES BAND Blue (Rare 1972 first UK issue
7-track vinyl LP on the Vertigo 'swirl' label, with machine
stamped matrices reading 1Y//1>420 & 2Y//1>420, housed in
a special die-cut gatefold matte sleeve designed by Roger Dean &
complete with a 'swirl' die-cut inner, see 'more info' for condition
details...)
Tracklisting: Condition
The sleeve must be one of the toughest Roger Dean covers to find if you're looking for original cover art by this great designer. A very subtle but effective blue title layout on an all over red, with die-cut spray stencil effect, the sleeve is a decent VG- copy. The die-cut area is very delicate & thin but intact & secure but does dispplay some minor wear.
There is some noticable edge creasing, with a couple of paper loss spots to the top left corner, all text is legible & most of the wear can be forgiveable considering it was never laminated. It also comes complete with the 'swirl' die-cut inner.
The labels are the first press design & the heavyweight vinyl appears clean. There are some spindle marks by the centre hole to indicate some turntable action & no blemishes to the print.
On close inspection we would grade the vinyl EX-. There are a handful of very faint paper scuffs & the odd mild hairline, none of which effects play & sound quality remains exceptional. By no means mint, this is an agreeable copy of one of the rarest Vertigo titles out there.
