 | JIMI HENDRIX Electric Ladyland (Very rare original 1968 UK
Track label 16-track STEREO double vinyl LP, housed in the
original laminated gatefold picture sleeve with naked women
artwork. This is a guaranteed genuine first pressing from '68 -
not one of the early '70s copies that are often sold on auction
sites as originals. See 'More Info' for details on differences
and condition...) #Top 500 Greatest Albums Of All Time
Tracklisting: So often second and third pressings are sold as originals by unknowing sellers when there are very distinct differences between the 1968 pressings and the later 1970/71 pressings on the Track label.
Firstly, the 1st issue Track labels have a slightly different texture to the paper, but the main difference on the labels is the catalogue numbers. On the left side of the centre hole, the catalogue number is repeated in brackets above the bold silver print in smaller inverted numbers. These end with a capital 'A' or 'B' per side, on both records' labels. This is ONLY found on the first pressing.
The 1st issue gatefold cover has huge differences, the colour tones on the naked ladies are far deeper, with an almost green tinge to the flesh colours, often found on the spine as well.
The most obvious of all is found inside the gatefold. The Track logo, tracklisting, copyright information and 'EJ Day' address are all in a very vivid shade of blue. Misalligning gives the tracklisting the name 'ghost text'. Every post 1968 issue had the graphics in a white colour.
Above the blue titles are two pictures of Mitch & Noel. In a 1st issue cover they are large sized photos, but all later covers have them reduced to a very small size. This too was the format for later Polydor label issues.
CONDITION
The black labels are clean with sharp silver print.
There a a couple of wispy spindle marks and no sign of play to the actual vinyl itself - a stunning one to two plays copy.
The matrix numbers are:
Side A - 613008A//1
Side B - 613009A//1
Side C - 613009B//1
Side D - 613008B//1
These are machine stamped in the 'dead wax' areas with hand scratched amendments - there appeared to be slight confusion at the pressing plant as the sides were configured in the American style, i.e. Sides A and D are on the first disc, Sides B and C on the second.
The laminated gatefold picture sleeve has one major crease across the bottom right corner on the reverse, but is in otherwise excellent condition.
A much sought after edition of this classic album in very respectable condition! |

song hype sticker on the back & an eight-page illustrated
booklet enclosed. The cover shows some light shelfwear with
some edge scuffing, whilst the discs show a few hairlines
throughout. A Very Good play copy! K66019)
