MILES DAVIS + 19 - GIL EVANS Miles Ahead (Sealed 1981 Japanese 'Miles 25' series issue of the 1957 10-track mono LP, housed in a deluxe picture sleeve with Japanese insert & #3 top card obi-strip. The sleeve also replicates the original withdrawn'sailboat' artwork. On first release, the ever forthright Miles [a man not known to mince his words] objected to this depiction of a young white woman & child aboard a sailboat - Miles supposedly asked Columbia executive George Avakian, "Why'd you put that white bitch on there?" This collector's copy is factory sealed from new in the obi stickered shrinkwrap. The vinyl is mint & unplayed 18AP2053)
