 | NEIL YOUNG On The Beach (50th Anniversary 2024
UK/EU limited edition Analog Originals series 8-track LP
pressed on Clear Vinyl and mastered from the
original analog tapes. A 50th anniversary for a seminal album
is an opportunityto reflect and reevaluate. A half-century on,
and it can take on a new life and a new meaning. It followed
the release of 1972's Harvest, which reached Number 1 on the
Billboard sales chart. The songs range from "See The Sky
About To Rain" to"A #Top 500 Greatest Albums Of All Timembulance Blues," and explore the
evolving counterculture in the 1970s in ways which had not
been done. These were songs that he took into a new realm of
where he and the country were going, and where that would
take them. Picture sleeve with silver hype sticker, factory
sealed. Recommended)
Tracklisting: On The Beach became a very special moment in the musical history of Neil Young. It was his fifth studio album, and was recorded with a stellar range of musicians, including Crazy Horse's rhythm section Billy Talbot (bass) and Ralph Molina (drums), along with other key players Ben Keith, Tim Drummond, Levon Helm (The Band), Rick Danko (The Band), Rusty Kershaw, David Crosby, Graham Nash and George Whitsell (The Rockets).
Sessions were held at Young's Broken Arrow Ranch in Northern California and Sunset Sound in Hollywood, and there was a definite feeling of expanding elements of musical styles being added to the playbook. The songs range from "See The Sky About To Rain" to "Ambulance Blues," and explore the evolving counterculture in the 1970s in ways which had not been done. This was Young at his most adventurous, and pointed to several new musical directions for him, yet to be defined.
This new anniversary limited edition of On The Beach will be pressed on clear vinyl, with "50" added to the front cover to mark the passage of time,

 | BLACK SABBATH Paranoid (1970 UK first issue 8-track Stereo
LP on the large 'swirl' logo label, matt gatefold picture sleeve
with 'Big Bear' credit printed on the inside of the gatefold,
complete with poly lined 'swirl' inner) Please see 'MoreInfo' for details on condition ... #Top 500 Greatest Albums Of All Time
Tracklisting: More Details
The gatefold sleeve was designed and photographed by Marcus Keef. Originally to be titled 'War Pigs' this was changed at the last minute to avoid offending the US market due to their ongoing involvement in the Vietnam war, the original title makes more sense with Keef’s cover concept
The sleeve is unlaminated on the first pressing, with the credit to Jim Simpson/Big Bear Managament on the inner gatefold. This was immediately withdrawn as soon as it was issued due to contractual disputes between the band and Big Bear.
The sleeve was changed to a laminated finish (for 3rd and 4th issue) due to substantial wear to the outer black finish on the first two matt versions. A greenish tinge and the edges of the outer cover where it has been ‘wrapped under’ and glued to the inner gatefold can be seen on many original sleeves.
The label design features the large swirl logo above the spindle hole, with 'VERTIGO' at the botton below spindle hole & band name.
This design was used for both the first issue (with Big Bear credit) and the second issue (without Big Bear credit). There are two further swirl issues (with a laminated gatefold sleeve) with the smaller swirl logo and VERTIGO above the spindle.
The matrix numbers indicating that this copy was among the first pressed are:
SIDE A - 1 Y // 1 V 420
SIDE B - 2 Y // 1 V 420
Condition
The matt picture sleeve is a nice example. There is a small scuff to the fron which has caused a small amount of paper loss however, the text to the spine and front remains clearly visible, making this an EX- graded sleeve.
The poly lined swirl inner is dated 0470.
The vinyl remains in remarkable condition, with limited cosmetic surface scuffs and a few light spindle marks on both labels.
An lovely example of this first pressing & one that I'm sure you'll be more than happy with.
