 | LED ZEPPELIN Led Zeppelin (Extremely rare 1969 UK 9-track
first issue stereo LP with 'Superhype' publishing credit on the
labels, and the track numbers associated with the publishing
erroneously lists track 3 twice on the Side One label.Housed in the legendary fully laminated sleeve with turquoise
lettering. The matrix numbers are 588171 A//1 & 588171
B//1 and are not scratched out, indicating that
this is the very, very first pressing) See 'More
I #Top 500 Greatest Albums Of All Timenfo' for further details ...
Tracklisting: More Details
This highly sought after first pressing of the classic debut Led Zeppelin album was available for a very short time before the sleeve was replaced with the orange lettered design. The first orange sleeves retained the 'Uptight An' Outtasight' Atlantic Appreciation Society flash on the back, although this was soon replaced too. The first orange sleeve copies contained either the unscratched matrix vinyl or the slightly later scratched out matrix vinyl that continued for the rest of the plum & red label presses, with erroneous publishing credits on Side One.
This is the very first turquoise lettered sleeve with matching unscratched matrix vinyl.
Condition
Sleeve
The sleeve remains in Very Good condition with some laminate creases/rippling evident mainly on the front panel towards the opening edge area and spine, and some corner scuffing. There is also one mark to the front image. The sleeve otherwise shows no more shelfwear than you might expect. The front image is still striking and could easily be displayed. A great example of a very sought after sleeve.
Vinyl
The matrix numbers are 588171 A//1 & 588171 B//1 and are not scratched out as in later issues.
The label has minimal spindle wear. Visually there are signs of play, with noticeable surface marks/light scratches and hairlines in places. We have graded this as Very Good. The record has been professionally cleaned on both sides and on playback a little background noise can be heard in some of the quieter passages but overall plays through without any major deterioration in sound quality, thanks to the superior quality of this pre-oil crisis pressing.
All in all a very acceptable copy in keeping with a Very Good grade.
