JACKIE McLEAN WITH THE FREDDIE REDD QUARTET The Music From
The Connection (Rare 1960 US first press 7-track MONO LP, composed
by Freddie for Jack Gelber's 1959 play - a classic straight-ahead Bop
date in its own right with all players on roaring form. The Blue Note
label has the 'West 63rd' address printed both sides along with a 'deep
groove' both sides, with 'RVG' stampers & 'ear' etchings in both
run-outs, all indicators of a genuine first issue. Both labels state 'Blue
Note Records Inc.' & there is an R in a circle below the 'E' of 'Note' The
pasted picture sleeve is front laminated with the 43 West 61st St
address on the back as well as a period UK tax import sticker. The
sleeve is in amazing Excellent condition with no writing or tears. There
is some very light shelf wear & a little natural discolouring on the rear
commensurate with age, the thick set spine appears Near Mint. The
heavyweight vinyl is nice & clean & in superb Excellent condition. On
close inspection, there is merely the lightest paper hairline visible under
a bright light in no way affecting play. Recommended BLP4027)
