J.J. JOHNSON, KAI WINDING & BENNIE GREEN Trombone By Three -
Three Trombones (Beautiful Archive Quality 1956 US 24-track deep
groove MONO LP compilation, on a black & white Prestige 'fireworks'
label with 'W. 50th St. N.Y.C.' address & 'RVG' [Rudy Van Gelder]
stamped in the run-outs. Note: this album plays at 16 2/3
rpm & is number four in Prestige's incredibly rare '16 RPM'
series, which had the tagline 'More Modern Jazz At The Modern
Speed'. Comes complete with the heavyweight pasted laminate sleeve
with artwork designed by Andy Warhol & the layout by Blue
Note's Reid Miles. There is a small 'R' stamp & number sticker on the
back panel, unobtrusive to the print & this mouth-watering example
remains in stunning Near Mint condition. The panels are strong, clean
& bright & with all print clearly legible. The collectable artwork appears
mint. Over sixty years on, the vinyl still gleams with no marks at all &
appears barely touched or played. Recommended)
