DON RENDELL & IAN CARR Don Rendell Sextet (Rare 1955 UK 4-track
7" vinyl EP with intact three-prong centre, front laminated picture
sleeve with liner notes on the reverse. Very early release from one of
the giants of British jazz, this EP was the last release from this
incarnation of the band that counted Ronnie Ross [Saxaphone] and
Dickie Hawson [Flugel Horn] amongst its members. The sleeve shows
just some light wear and a tiny pin-prick hole to the top right hand
corner and the vinyl has the odd light scuff/hairline, hard to believe it's
62 years old! The first copy we've ever had EXA12)

the blue & black Columbia label in the Lansdowne Series, starring
Ian Carr [Trumpet, Flugelhorn], Don Rendell [Tenor Saxophone,

Dave Green [Bass] & Trevor Tomkins [Drums]. This was
arguably the greatest British-Jazz album ever made, & the closest
we got to replicating the magic of Miles Davis-John Coltrane-Bill
Evans on Kind Of Blue. Bold statement indeed, but have you
heard this? Never before stocked & highly recommended, housed

DON RENDELL & IAN CARR QUINTET The Complete Lansdowne
Recordings 1965-1969 (Essential Limited Edition 2018 UK audiophile
stereo 5-LP box set, the first ever official vinyl re-release of all five
classic Lansdowne recordings by Britain's greatest jazz quintet of the
sixties. After a two decade tussle over licensing agreements with
Universal, Jazzman Records deliver. The five albums here are cult
classics & have reached near mythical status in the vinyl collector's
market; Shades OfBlues (1965), Dusk Fire (1966), Phase III (1968),
Change Is (1969) & Live (1969). Regarded as musically-fantastic, holy
grail artefacts for the Jazz collector [Dusk Fire really is one of the best
albums of its kind, even rivalling peak-Miles Davis!], their collective
second hand market value comes to an astonishing £6000 for original
copies, making this a sound investment. Jazzman located the original
analogue master tapes from the Universal vaults & created masters at
Abbey Road Studios to produce audiophile quality 180gram pressings
replete with replica artwork - shape, design & even paper stock -a true
labour of love to the highest possible standard. The enclosed booklet
contains never before seen photographs, interviews with the remaining
living band members & liner notes from BBC Radio 3 presenter &
award-winning jazz writer, Alyn Shipton, all housed in a custom 12"
title box. Sealed & a must have JMANLP106)
